| Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005 first roadkill?
So an hour ago, I went on my unforgettable journey to Hollywood Video. Going down Broad St at 45 miles per hour (the speed limit in that area is 55), in the middle of my lane I see a bird a few feet in front of me. Why I didn't see it early, I dunno. All I know is that it didn't appear until the last moment. It just stood there. This seagull. When have I ever seen a seagull in San Luis? There was a loud *thump* sound and after slightly getting over the shock of what I thought was killing my first animal with my own car, I called Tweetie right away to tell her the story. We found ways to justify it (even though I'm still going to hell), like it probably had cancer and that it's tumor was weighing it down which is why it didn't move in any way before I smacked it. I told Tweetie I'd call her later if I found a dent in my car. When I got to Hollywood Video, I walked in and didn't look at my car. As I was about to walk out, I saw it. The seagull was stuck in my car where the "grill" is. The grill is further back, so it was just chillin' there. Well, chillin as much as possible of course. I was in so much shock. I was half crying, half laughing. Couldn't believe that it was happening and didn't want to think about what I was going to do. I called Tweetie and she laughed about it because she said it just sounded funny. Unfortunately, I was there for about an hour, worrying myself silly. The Hollywood Video workers were great. They helped me get the poor bird out and figure out what to do with it. The girl working is taking it home with her and hopefully the people she left a message with call her back in the morning, so that I can know what happened when I call her. I really hope it's ok. After we got it in the box, I felt like I shouldn't leave it, but there was nothing else I could do. I have a couple pictures of it. It's actually kinda cute. I did feel so terrible though; I swear I didn't mean to hit it. That bird was both lucky and unlucky that it got hit by me. This ordeal has made me hungry, I'm tired, and I have work, then a midterm. Dammit. The mask is from PSP. The image is from Nocturne. ---------------------------------------------------------- |
