down the stairs
I just had to tell my story of the day.
So it's one in the morning and I need a glass of water. I'm trying not to wake up anyone who's sleeping, so I figure I'll creep quietly down the stairs to the kitchen without turning on any lights. Well, things didn't work out the way I had planned because someone had parked themselves in front of the stairway. Friggin' cat. Tried to kill me. The only reason I didn't tumble down the stairs to my demise was because I grabbed the rail and used the wall to brace myself. Unfortunately, I kinda woke someone up. Oops.
